For solvent recovery, distillation of methanol and chlorinated hydrocarbons is involved; which type performs better in the long term, packed columns or plate columns?
Methanol and chlorinated hydrocarbons have high solubility, making distillation separation difficult； When using a plate tower, the height of the tower will be very high; a sieve plate tower could be considered ； Packed tower distillation has a large contact area, allowing for a lower tower height; therefore, a packed tower is recommended.
Methanol has an azeotrope with chloroalkanes, so it is planned to separate them first using water treatment. The height of the workshop is insufficient, around 16m; plate towers may not be suitable.
