I would like to know whether the electricity generated by biogas plants can be fed into the grid. What are the policies regarding this, what are the costs involved, what will be the price at which the electricity can be sold to the grid? How common is this practice? And what scale is required for it to be feasible or cost-effective to connect to the grid?

Looking at the policies, it is clear that there is an effort to encourage the large-scale use of bionatural gas. It’s not clear what the main challenges in this industry are – why are so many projects being established yet so few actually operational? Is it cost-effectiveness again?
The company that does a good job in this area in China is BaiChuan ChangYin. I’ve communicated with their staff, and it seems they currently have over 40 systems connected to the grid. I checked my notes but didn’t record the electricity prices; however, even when the systems are connected to the grid, the payments from the state-owned power company are very delayed. I visited there at the end of October, and it turned out that the payments for 2014 hadn’t been made yet.
