Gate valve DN20, 1500LB, J41H-1500C, WCB; Angle valve DN200, 1500LB, J64H-1500C, WCB. I’m new to this field – can someone help explain it?
J is the abbreviation for a stop valve; 4 denotes flange connection, WCB indicates that the material is cast steel, and LB refers to pounds per square inch as per American standards
As a supplementary note, DN stands for the nominal diameter of the valve, while LB refers to the American standard pound rating

J41H-1500C: J stands for globe valve, 4 represents spur gears, 1 denotes swing type, H refers to alloy steel, 1500 indicates a nominal pressure of 1500 LB, and C stands for carbon steel; J64H-1500C: J denotes a corner valve in shut-off valves; 6 indicates pneumatic operation; 4 refers to flange connection; H stands for alloy steel; 1500 represents a nominal pressure of 1500 LB; C denotes carbon steel ;
There are two more questions: First, C should refer to the carbon steel material of the valve seat, and H to the alloy steel material of the sealing surface; but how can we know the material of the valve body or the valve core? Secondly, 1500 should represent 150 Mpa, that is, 1500 kilograms of pressure; yet if LB stands for pounds, the units are different. So why is it still 1500?
The specific material cannot be determined solely from the valve model. Based on experience, this globe valve is certainly not rated for 150 MPa; the pressure value in the model should be 1500 LB instead. Standard 3.7.5 requires a pressure level higher than 2.5 MPa, and the symbol for carbon steel, C, is omitted in this case
