According to Sinopec News Network (Tao Yan), on October 13, the 2016 Sinopec Group Skill Competition for Xylenes Plant Operators was concluded at Yangzi Petrochemical. After two days of intense competition, Yangzi Petrochemical, Hainan Refining & Chemical, and Zhenhai Refining & Chemical won the top three places in the team competition respectively ； Hu Bangjie from Yangzi Petrochemical, Wang Jinmin from Hainan Refining & Chemical, and Liu Qian from Yangzi Petrochemical won the top three individual awards respectively. A responsible official from the Human Resources Department of the group company explained that in addition to the traditional theoretical knowledge tests, this competition included elements such as DCS simulation, on-site accident correction simulations, and on-site presentations. These elements were used to assess not only the contestants’ professional knowledge but also their overall capabilities and their ability to solve real-world problems on site. A responsible official from the Chemical Engineering Division noted that through this competition, the skill levels of the participants generally improved, especially in terms of normal operation skills, as evidenced by their performance in starting up and shutting down simulation systems; however, their skills in handling emergency situations still need further improvement. During the competition, the participants upheld the fine traditions of the petroleum and petrochemical industry; they were meticulous and serious in the arena, brave in striving for success, demonstrating an excellent attitude as well as superb skills ； Outside the competition venue, people exchange experiences and share their insights; an atmosphere of competition, learning, communication, and improvement prevails both inside and outside the arena. As the organizer of this competition, Yangzi Petrochemical made extensive and meticulous arrangements regarding the competition venue, equipment provision, and logistical support, thereby creating a favorable competition environment for the participants as well as offering them enthusiastic and thoughtful service. It is understood that in this competition, Yangzi Petrochemical, Hainan Refining & Chemical, and Zhenhai Refining & Chemical won the top three team places respectively ； In this competition, 6 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze medals are awarded respectively. In this competition, Yangzi Petrochemical achieved great success: in addition to winning first place in the team category, the company also secured 5 medals. Hu Bangjie and Liu Qian won gold medals, Lai Xudong and Pan Yongjian won silver medals, while Hou Yuanyuan won a bronze medal. At the closing ceremony, the organizing committee presented awards to the winning teams and individuals. This competition achieved the goal of promoting learning, training, and growth through competition.
