The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the surrounding plains are covered by widespread haze. Monitoring data show that pollutants continued to accumulate yesterday; by 4 p.m., most areas of the city were affected by moderate to severe pollution, with the situation being even worse in the southern region. The PM2.5 concentration at the monitoring station in Yizhuang Development Zone reached 186 micrograms per cubic meter. After nightfall, the entire city will reach a level of severe pollution. 　　 At 5:30 p.m. yesterday, the city issued a yellow warning for severe air pollution, and air quality will remain at a severely polluted level today as well. In accordance with the Beijing Air Pollution Emergency Plan, relevant entities are required to strengthen dust control at construction sites, and all construction activities such as earthwork and building demolition have been suspended across the city ； At the same time, increase the intensity of cleaning and maintenance on key roads, and step up law enforcement efforts against open-air burning and the burning of straw. Citizens are also asked to take proper health precautions. 　　 Following the issuance of the yellow warning for severe air pollution, the environmental protection authorities in the urban area promptly carried out law enforcement inspections. Last night, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Tongzhou District dispatched 6 teams of law enforcement officers to conduct overnight inspections at construction sites, restaurants, and industrial enterprises. The Miyun District Environmental Protection Bureau has also stepped up law enforcement efforts, conducting inspections of construction sites, restaurants, and auto repair businesses. Last night, it was discovered that one painting booth was not properly shut down, and further action is planned to impose penalties.
