Can the feeding pump and the unloading pump be the same pump?

In many process design drawings, it is found that the unloading pump with a certain chemical formula and the pump used to feed materials into the workshop are actually the same pump; switching valves is all that is needed to use one or the other. However, recently I encountered a case where the unloading pump and the feeding pump were installed separately – I’m not sure why Under what circumstances can a single pump be shared, and under what circumstances cannot it? Let’s discuss this together.
If the feed pump supplies material intermittently and discharging does not affect feeding, they can be shared. For your reference

This entirely depends on the conditions and requirements of material discharge and feeding, including flow rate, head pressure, as well as whether feeding is continuous or intermittent.
