How many static sealing points does the valve have?
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-10-25 at 20:36. The front and rear flanges (threaded), packing, and the large cover – these are basically the four components involved. There are multiple plug nuts or flange covers on certain parts of the valve body, but such valves are not very common.
It’s too general; it depends on what type of valve it is. The most common gate valves and globe valves with flange connections have 4, while those with welded connections have 2 ； There are 3 ball valves in total, and some butterfly valves also have only 3 ； I guess this is to count static seal points and leakage rates; I think this task isn’t very meaningful at all.
Is the weld joint also considered a static seal point? I used to work as a equipment operator; I was in charge of calculations.
When counting the number of static seal points, welds are not considered as static seal points. However, weld leaks must be included in the statistical calculation of the leakage rate at static sealing points
It has a packing seal for the valve stem; it belongs to dynamic sealing, right?
