Hello everyone. Actually, I’m not from the sulfuric acid industry; I work in the SO3 sulfonation industry. Since we also use sulfur to produce SO3, there are some similarities in our manufacturing processes. I have trouble finding peers in this field, so I often come to this section to check things out. In our converter, there are ceramic balls at both the top and bottom of the vanadium catalyst; the ceramic balls are separated from the catalyst by a metal mesh, and there is also a layer of metal mesh at the bottom. What I would like to ask is, how are your catalysts generally installed? Are there also heat-resistant ceramic balls? If a metal mesh is also used, what material is it? Because the ordinary stainless steel mesh we used before was not durable, we wanted to replace it with a mesh that is heat-resistant and oxidation-resistant.

For a single type of catalyst, it is generally not necessary to use a metal mesh as a separator; ceramic balls are used at the top and bottom. When two different types of catalysts are used, a metal mesh that is heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant is required – such as 310 or 310S?
