The vortex flow meter is a new type of flow meter that utilizes the principle of fluid vibration; it is commonly used in industries such as petroleum, chemicals, metallurgy, and papermaking. However, the installation location should be chosen in such a way as to minimize the impact of steam hammer effects within the pipeline on the components of the vortex flow meter. Vortex flowmeters should not be used when vibration is high and cannot be eliminated. Below, the editor has summarized some installation tips for vortex flowmeters for your reference: 1. It is well known among users that vortex flowmeters are not suitable for use in environments with strong vibrations; however, in situations where the magnetic field changes frequently, the vortex flow sensor will produce signal outputs that are higher than normal. Practice has shown that in a site where there is no gas flow, when the vortex flow meter is placed in a changing magnetic field, an error signal is generated by the meter at the moment the magnetic field changes; once the change ceases and the meter is in a stable magnetic field, it will output a normal signal. 2. Since coke oven gas has a high temperature and high humidity at the time of production, moisture is present during its transportation. Gas flow drives the water to fluctuate back and forth, thereby creating a pulsating flow. When in such a fluid state, the vortex flow meter outputs data that fluctuates greatly, making it impossible to reflect the actual production conditions. 3. During the wiring of the instruments, the wires were not secured properly, which resulted in intermittent signals during transmission. 4. The instrument’s grounding wire does not meet the specified requirements, which allows 50Hz interference from high-voltage currents to enter. When the normal signal frequency is higher than 50Hz, a normal signal is output; otherwise, an incorrect signal is generated.
I would like to know whether, if there isn’t enough straight pipe section in a vortex flow meter, it will result in unstable output values that keep fluctuating?
