What is the purpose of learning *English?

I have to learn it for exams; it’s not really useful at work!

For the exam. . . As the teacher said, after graduation, the knowledge acquired in university is only useful for computers and English; if one works in a state-owned enterprise, English is not necessary either.

But some of China’s lackeys who regard foreign language education as an industry and as a necessary skill for so-called success are truly harming the country and its people. What’s most annoying is those who have spent a few years abroad and, upon returning to their home country, keep using foreign words in their speech; they feel that they can’t demonstrate their experience studying abroad otherwise. They also spout nonsense like \"It can be expressed more accurately in English.\" Doesn’t he even think about it? There are plays in classical Chinese, medical books in their original English version, as well as various works on politics, economics, literature, and philosophy written in English – the vocabulary and grammar in those books are quite complex. Yet Chinese people are able to translate them accurately into Chinese. So how is it that these people, after spending just a few years abroad, end up unable to speak their native language properly? In my opinion, it’s due to too low proficiency in the Chinese language and professional skills; another reason is acting like an asshole.

For me, the purpose of learning English is to watch TV, such as CCTV News Channel, Pearl, or World. And to teach my son English.

Before, it was purely for exams; now I want to learn * to be with my child. .

To work on overseas cases, to communicate with foreigners, to read foreign literature, and to travel abroad. . .

English is a skill, and it’s very important! It’s useful for work sometimes!

While preparing for exams, learn some English to appreciate life better
