Process design is very important, but as for which specific aspect is the most crucial, some believe it is material balance and heat balance, while others think it is determining the process scheme. Let’s discuss together which element of process design is the most important.
Given the purpose of this discussion, it is of course most important—and also the most challenging—to determine the process plan, including its feasibility, advancement, and creativity. Even the selection of equipment is extremely important, as it determines whether the process is continuous or batch-based, whether it is efficient, energy-saving, safe, and environmentally friendly. The ability to take an overall perspective, which is required of process designers, is reflected here; mere copying cannot be considered true process design. We often refer to the process engineering major as a leading one, but being a leader in this field is by no means easy! Of course, design is an extremely serious and meticulous task; it cannot be said that any particular aspect is unimportant, as even the smallest mistakes can lead to failure.
In fact, none of them can be considered more important; they are all important elements that are interrelated steps... A good process plan may exist, but if the process calculations are not accurate, then the overall process plan will also be poor; If the process design is poor, no matter how good the process calculations are, it won’t make much of a difference ;
One must view issues in a dialectical and historical manner. Currently, in Cambodia and North Korea, is it more important to produce atomic bombs or to ensure accounting? ! ! !
Personally, I think the plan is the most important thing. The process plan is the foundation of design; if there are issues with the plan, no matter how well subsequent calculations are done, problems will arise during actual production.
