Recently, an accident occurred in our company’s dormitory. The dormitory has been renovated for five years now, and the switches and sockets on the walls have worn out. One night, an employee woke up and noticed flames inside the dormitory; he immediately went outside to get a fire extinguisher and returned to put out the fire, which was extinguished quite quickly. The accident wasn’t serious, but since a dry powder fire extinguisher was used, the dormitory became covered in white residue and looked very dirty. As the weather gets cooler, electricity consumption increases significantly. When it comes to electrical safety, the following points should be taken into account: 1. Prevent electrical fires caused by overheating of electrical appliances ； 2. The load associated with switching electrical appliances is relatively high; it is essential to check the indoor wiring and the leakage protection switch ； 3. Do not use multiple electrical appliances on the same power strip; multi-functional power strips are explicitly prohibited from use ； 4. Pay attention to the maintenance and repair of electrical appliances ； 5. Electrical appliances should not be used continuously for long periods to avoid fires ； 6. Ensure that electrical appliances have adequate cooling conditions; do not place flammable items such as curtains, books, or clothing around appliances like televisions, air conditioners, and computers ； 7. Do not use multiple high-power electrical appliances simultaneously, especially those with a power rating of over 1000W ； 8. Do not connect wires randomly; use safe fuses, and it is strictly prohibited to use copper wires as substitutes for fuses ； 9. In the event of any unexpected situations, cut off the power supply promptly, such as when electrical equipment starts smoking, there is a gas leak, or water enters the home. 10. Whether at home or at the office, one should be familiar with the exact locations of fire-fighting equipment and know how to use it.
