In our original design, the sampling points for the propylene and LPG spheres were located on the feed pipeline at the bottom of the sphere, as well as below the remote shut-off valve (i.e., further away from the tank body). As a result, when sampling after the tank was filled to capacity, the sample obtained was actually the sample of the last batch of material fed in. Therefore, the samples lack representativeness, which is not conducive to quality management. Friends, where are the sampling points for your acrylic or LPG tanks? Is it on the tank body? There is a reserved port upstream of the spherical tank body; I now want to modify it in order to connect a sampling line from that reserved port. And the sphere tank is currently under inspection, so there’s a chance to make changes.
This has always been how we designed it: the spherical tank should have as few openings as possible, and stirring is not allowed; therefore, there are limitations regarding where samples can be taken. There’s no problem with the pump inlet either! Otherwise, taking a sample after the pump has been running for a while can also reflect the condition of the storage tank
Regarding the location of the opening, I conducted a survey once; there are basically two possible locations for such an opening. 1) On the body of the spherical tank – to prevent the sampling port from getting blocked, a height of about 0.5 meters is usually left inside the tank. 2) On the inlet and outlet pipelines, (to a large extent), this is mainly to avoid opening the spherical tank body. I suggest it is best to reduce the openings in the body.
