Why does a PEEK valve seat scratch the 316 ball, leaving scratches on it? This problem does not occur when the ball’s surface is coated with ENP. Is it because metal powder is added to PEEK, or is there some other reason? Please ask an expert to answer.

Check carefully; it’s possible that metal particles present in the medium scratched the sphere.

The valve itself may have an excessive pre-tightening force, and there might be welding slag in the pipeline. The PEEK valve seat is inherently wear-resistant; however, it isn’t necessary to use this configuration – the ball could instead be coated with Ni60 (a nickel-based alloy). It is recommended to change the type of valve to a track ball valve (a ball valve with forced sealing), as such valves separate from the valve seat when opened and closed.

This is a typical form of sealing failure in fully welded ball valves; impurities such as welding slag adhering to the sealing surfaces can damage the metal ball during opening and closing, rather than it being the wear caused by the soft sealing material itself on the metal ball
