An industrial wastewater has an ammonia nitrogen level as high as 10,000 mg/L, primarily in the form of NH4Cl. Can installing an MVR unit now to remove NH4Cl ensure that the ammonia nitrogen content in the steam condensate is less than 10 mg/L?
I have tuned an ammonium chloride MVR unit in Suzhou; I’m not sure what the evaporation capacity of yours is.
There are MVR evaporation units specifically designed to remove ammonia nitrogen, which can reach levels of up to 10,000 mg/L and is primarily present in the form of NH4Cl. I think I’m going in the wrong direction. If it is more than 5% NH4CL, I think it makes sense to use evaporation treatment. However, it is impossible to keep the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the effluent below 10 mg/L. Removing ammonia nitrogen at a concentration of 10,000 mg/L through evaporation is neither scientific nor economical; as for the economic aspects, they are obviously unfavorable, since evaporation is a process with high operating costs. Speaking again about the scientific aspects, ammonium chloride is a substance that decomposes easily; when using evaporation, the ammonia nitrogen concentration in the condensed water will definitely be higher than 10 mg/L. It is recommended to use methods such as stripping, degassing membranes, and special reverse osmosis to remove ammonia nitrogen. Personal advice is for reference only.
