When I encountered a stripping tower, I asked the technician who was guiding us there (I now realize that he was also just a college student who knew how to operate valves) what stripping actually entailed. He said it was about using steam to remove certain substances; as for exactly how it worked, I wasn’t brave enough to ask further, and he didn’t explain any more either. . . . (You can see just how pretentious I was at that time :lol) I just used a phrase to deceive myself, without bothering to think about what the principle actually was....... . . A few years later, when I came across the design of atmospheric and vacuum distillation units again, I thought about this matter once more and suddenly understood: stripping is nothing but the application of Dalton’s law of partial pressures in physical chemistry. Thinking back to how high my scores were in physical chemistry exams, I realized that I was only good at theoretical knowledge; I simply couldn’t conceive of such a simple principle back then. . . :Actually, any solvent can be used for stripping; nitrogen works as well too. It’s just that water and hydrocarbons separate easily, which is why steam stripping is used in engineering applications. It seems that there is still a gap between the basic theories in these books and their practical application in engineering; they can’t be applied right away~
Indeed, books are lifeless. Government and enterprises, nitrogen, or low-boiling-point liquids are all acceptable
