To achieve green maintenance, that is, without any unpleasant odors and zero emissions, the staff at Jinan Refining & Chemical’s wastewater stripping unit abandoned the previous method of using fresh water to repeatedly wash and dilute the sludge at the bottom of the tanks, and for the first time adopted a fully enclosed mechanical cleaning approach. First, they soaked the sludge at the bottom of the tank in deodorant for 24 hours to remove odors, followed by a 4-day process of gas-phase circulation inside the tank to further eliminate odors. Finally, deodorant and flocculants were added intermittently to deodorize the sludge and carry out solid-liquid separation.
