Everyone, our company has installed a new steam-water separator unit on the steam pipeline. How should we establish acceptance criteria for this unit?
It is actually very difficult to measure the water content in steam; so how can we assess the effectiveness of this steam-water separator?

Soda separation naturally involves removing the water droplets and foam carried by the steam. Depending on the use of steam, the degree of dehydration varies, and there are also several different types of detection methods. I was asking about the uses of steam, not the function of the demister.

It may also be done to improve heat exchange efficiency, or because the system cannot handle large amounts of condensate. This separation requires no high standards and is easy to achieve; it just needs to be installed, with no strict acceptance criteria required.

For the gas used in the analysis of activated carbon adsorption materials, high-temperature non-condensable gas should be employed. Using steam, especially saturated steam, is highly inappropriate. And even when clean, saturated steam without any droplets or foam comes into contact with activated carbon, it will rapidly liquefy due to the surface physicochemical effects. If it is superheated steam, there are no liquid droplets or foam, so the steam-water separator is unnecessary. The separation efficiency of the soda separator is no longer important. Even clean, saturated steam without any droplets or foam in contact with the activated carbon causes it to liquefy rapidly, resulting in the activated carbon becoming quickly saturated with liquid phase. The consequences are predictable. The main issue is the lack of a good understanding of surface chemistry in the process design.
