Should a drain line be installed between the two isolation valves of the oil pipeline? It is not necessary to install a drain between every pair of valves; the decision should be based on whether frequent disassembly or troubleshooting is likely to be required. For example, having a drain between a pre-positioned or post-positioned valve and an isolation valve is also sufficient to meet the requirements.
The purpose of many two-valve arrangements is to install blind flanges between the valves to facilitate operation and maintenance; for example, in cases of two valves in a boundary zone, it is still very necessary to provide drain pipes for such valve setups. After all, when installing a blind flange, the liquid inside must be drained. If double valves are installed merely for the purpose of shutting off flow, there is no need to add drain lines, as this only increases the risk of leaks.
