What is the reason for water in the pipelines before the exhaust gas purification furnace? A few days ago, there was a leak at the butterfly valve used to feed the exhaust gas into the furnace; these past couple of days, water has been leaking continuously from the exhaust gas (gas). I’m not sure what the cause is. All the heat tracing lines before the furnace have been turned off, and the water has been drained, but there’s still water present, with a pH level of around 6.5
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2016-12-3 09:07. A pH value of 6.5 is not high, so the possibility of mist being carried along is essentially ruled out. The exhaust gas at the top of the absorption tower contains saturated water; its temperature is generally between 30 and 40 degrees. Since the exhaust gas pipelines are not insulated, cooling and water condensation will definitely occur at the current temperatures. The lower the temperature, the lower the saturated water vapor pressure in the exhaust gases, and the excess becomes water.

This is also a flaw in the design. Normally, this section of pipeline is not insulated. In winter, the area from the outlet of the absorption tower to the incinerator is at a relatively high elevation, resulting in significant heat loss. This is why the water accumulation phenomenon mentioned by the poster occurs; in severe cases, it can cause the incinerator to stop functioning. If insulation is added, the situation will improve significantly.

Some designs include a U-shaped bend before entering the furnace, with a drain at the bottom for regular water removal.
Isn’t it quite dangerous when draining it? It’s easy for exhaust gases to escape
Well, there are risks associated with direct discharge into the atmosphere; it can be connected to a closed emission system or directed to a safe location for disposal.
