It depends on whether your sulfur-containing wastewater is sent to acidic water stripping, and whether the purified water resulting from that process is reused. After alkaline washing, the wastewater will have a high pH value; in addition, some sodium thiol will inevitably be present, which leads to a high COD level in the wastewater. There’s no need to explain further. Additionally, whether such wastewater can be used depends on the levels of corrosion and scaling that may occur.
Thank you for your advice. I have a question: why does sodium thiol affect wastewater stripping units? Our sulfur-containing wastewater is sent for distillation; the purified water is reused. If the pH of the alkaline wastewater is too high, will scaling and corrosion occur after it is mixed with the sulfur-containing wastewater?
If the sodium thiol level is high, it mainly results in a high COD value; if you decide to reuse the water, it’s unlikely that the COD levels of the wastewater discharged will meet the required standards.
