Can PLC programs from the same series be used interchangeably? ?

Recently, due to the need for system spare parts, they are all S7-200 PLCs. Since the CPU models vary, it’s not possible for me to have a spare unit of each type of CPU, right? I want to prepare one with a large number of I/O points, which can be used as a temporary replacement in case other PLCs fail, after which a new CPU of the same model can be ordered. Is this approach feasible? Also, I’m not sure whether the programs uploaded from the PLC can be downloaded for use on CPUs of different models A beginner seeking advice! ! ! Thank you so much.
Different CPU models mean different hardware, and the configuration includes the hardware setup; therefore, they cannot be replaced.
Then the program will have to be rewritten. Could we just create a new hardware configuration and then copy the original program into it? !
