Crude oil supply capacity in Western Siberia: The region of Western Siberia in Russia is rich in petroleum resources, and its exploration potential remains very large. To date, the region has achieved a total crude oil production of approximately 84×108 tons. The cumulative proven and probable industrial-grade reserves amount to 252×108 tons, with an additional 168×108 tons of recoverable reserves remaining. Of these, the proven reserves account for about half (approximately 68×108 tons according to Western standards). In addition, there are many more predicted reserves and resource amounts. Crude oil production in this region relies mainly on various oil fields located in Tomsk Oblast and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. In Tomsk Oblast, 92 oil fields have been discovered to date, of which 19 are under development while 73 remain undeveloped ; In the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the areas that can be used as oil sources for new pipelines are mainly the oil fields owned by Yugansk Neftegaz, with 26 such fields having been discovered to date. It appears that it is possible to increase the oil production in Western Siberia by 5,000×104 tons per year, bringing it to 3.5×108 tons per year, based on its current production level of around 3.0×108 tons per year, and this increase is feasible given the existing resource reserves.
