What is the principle behind the relief valve in a metering pump, and can it replace a safety valve?
Valve for the return inlet? That’s a safety valve, right? It’s used to prevent overpressure.
That is the safety valve, which is used to release pressure when the outlet closes and overpressure occurs.
It is a built-in pressure relief valve that also serves as a safety valve; when pressure becomes too high, it releases hydraulic oil to the oil storage chamber, eliminating the need for an additional safety valve
The internal relief valve in the pump is used to prevent overpressure in the pump’s hydraulic chamber. Pump manufacturers typically set the opening pressure based on the strength of the pump chamber and the power of the motor; this value may not necessarily correspond to the design pressure of the external piping system. Therefore, if no separate safety valve is installed in the external system, it is necessary to inform the pump manufacturer of the design pressure of the piping system in advance, so that the opening pressure of the pump’s internal relief valve matches that of the piping system.
