To prevent oil cross-contamination incidents in our plant’s refined oil tank area, it is specified that both the main valve at the base of the tank and the control valve must be closed. In such a situation, what happens to the pressure built up in the flexible metal hose between the main valve and the control valve? How do other factories handle it?
First close the main valve, and then close the operating valve after a while – that should work
What will we do in the summer once everything is shut down? It’s impossible to relieve the pressure in just a short while
Under normal operating conditions, the root valve should remain open at all times; it is not allowed to be closed

It depends on the type of oil; generally, it is the gasoline components that are most prone to overpressure due to changes in temperature. A flexible hose should be somewhat stretchable.
This problem occurs in other places as well; in some liquid medium pipelines, there are shut-off valves at both ends. When it is necessary to cut off the flow of material in that section, and if the liquid medium cannot be drained completely between the two shut-off valves or if there are no drainage pipes, it is necessary to close only one of the valves, otherwise the pressure in the pipeline in between will rise excessively. If you have a root valve and an operating valve at the bottom of the tank, you should first close the root valve, and then close the operating valve after the fluid in the pipeline has drained out, in order to prevent material from accumulating in the pipeline.
In summer, turn it on for a while at noon when the temperature is highest, then turn it off.
First of all, the tank root valve should not be turned on and off constantly. Secondly, if it must be shut off, as mentioned above, the tank inlet valve can be closed first, and then the control valve can be closed after the medium has flowed out.
We simply conduct daily inspections by opening the root valve to release pressure and then closing it.
Install a drain valve to drain the oil between the tank root main valve and the operating valve
