Fisherman’s Pride: Thoughts in Autumn Dynasty: Song Dynasty Author: Fan Zhongyan Original text: In autumn, the scenery beyond the frontier is different; geese flying towards Hengyang do so without any concern. Sounds from all sides reach the corners; amid countless peaks, smoke rises as the sun sets, and the lone city is closed off. A cup of rough wine, home far away miles away; with no victory inscribed on Yanran, there’s no way to return. The Qiang flute plays softly as frost covers the ground; people cannot sleep, while the general has white hair and the soldiers weep. I personally really enjoy the poems written by famous generals from the Song Dynasty such as Fan Xiang and Xin Qiji. These scholars who went to battle to defend their country create a truly magnificent atmosphere; it’s not something created merely to express sorrow. If I were born in that era, I would surely take them as role models. A cup of rough wine, far away from home – what a sense of freedom and boldness! I envy that!
Why is the name of this poem genre “Yu Jia Ao”? Was it created by fishermen?
A cup of rough wine, miles away from home – what freedom and boldness! I envy that ! What I see is loneliness, helplessness, and confusion
Transcendence – it seems to be here in reality again! :(:):)
To be honest, I didn’t understand these song titles either when I was in middle school; they all sounded strange – things like Pusa Man, Shui Long Yin, Qing Ping Le, Dian Jiang Chun. . . It certainly isn’t to be understood in such a literal sense; otherwise it would be called \"Boshaman\". . . Is this an act of disrespect toward the Buddha? ;P If there are experts with high literary skills among the readers, I would appreciate their guidance!
Appreciation of poetry? Different people have different views; it’s not an exam, so there’s no uniform standard**~
