For this rotary air compressor, is it better to heat the intake air to around 10°C before feeding it into the compressor, or should it be fed in at -35°C without heating? What is the difference in cooling efficiency? Thank you.

The manufacturer has no particular requirements regarding temperature; it is possible to design the system for operation at 10°C, or even at -35°C. What matters most is the client’s requirement that the compressor operate at 10°C. After the first stage of compression, water cooling is necessary; after that, the gas goes to the second compressor. Following the second stage of compression, it passes through a water cooler and then through a heat exchanger – this heat exchanger is used to cool the incoming gas at -35°C, raising its temperature to 10°C before it enters the first compressor. Finally, the gas is cooled to 40°C before leaving the system.

At the inlet of the low-temperature methanol wash cycle gas compressor, the gas passes through a flasher and then a heat exchanger before entering the compressor; this is done primarily to recover cold energy and save energy. When the temperature is too low, entering the compressor imposes higher requirements on its material, increasing the cost of the compressor.
