There are neutral fluxes and active fluxes; changing the type of flux requires re-evaluating the welding process. For fluxes of the SJ101 grade (with models such as F5A2-H10Mn2 and F4A2-H08Mn2), the flux type is indicated as neutral in Shanghai Lincoln Company’s material sheet, while it is marked as active in Jinqiao Company’s material sheet. Can fluxes produced under the same standard grade be of different types?

I urge colleagues in this field to take a look at the material lists they have at hand, compile a summary, and clarify this issue. The flux type listed for the SJ101 material in the Lincoln welding materials specification is neutral, while the flux type for SJ101 in the Jinqiao specification is active. However, after communicating with the technical staff of a certain manufacturer, they said that for the SJ101 product they produce as well, if the flux formula is different, it may be neutral or active. Try to listen to the welding material manufacturer’s advice (maybe it’s a mistake). Flux----Model (as specified by standards). Flux----Grade (trade name, designated by the flux manufacturer itself). Although SJ101 is a unified grade, it is not standardized after all.
