Dear sea friends: Our company’s regulations for fittings state that \"Fittings machined from free-forged steel shall not be allowed.\" What kind of steel is this \"free-forged steel\"?
What does a grade 3 forged part mean?

My understanding is that “free-forged steel” means “steel that has been freely forged,” with “free-forged” serving as an adjective formed from a past participle. The entire sentence “Fittings machined from free-forged steel shall not be allowed” means that it is not permitted to use steel that has been freely forged to machine components. In simple terms, it means that \"it is not allowed to manufacture workpieces from steel that has been freely forged through machining.\"
It might be due to concerns that free forging could damage the material’s structural structure
