On December 24, 2016, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation organized an appraisal meeting in Beijing for this scientific and technological achievement; the project was carried out jointly by Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd., East China University of Science and Technology, and Yanzhou Coal Industry Co., Ltd. The appraisal committee is composed of 13 experts from the industry, with Academician Xie Kechang from the Chinese Academy of Engineering serving as chairman, and Academician Ni Weidou from Tsinghua University serving as vice chairman. The meeting was chaired by Wang Xiujiang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Equipment of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation. Professor Guang Suo from East China University of Science and Technology presented a research report on this scientific and technological achievement on behalf of the entity responsible for it. Zhu Qingrui, General Manager of Yankuang Group Chemical Co., Ltd. and former General Manager of Inner Mongolia Rongxin Chemical Co., Ltd., delivered a report on the application of the demonstration plant. Sun Zhengtai, former Vice President of China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd., gave an overview of the on-site assessment results. The experts present listened to the relevant reports and conducted a detailed review as well as thorough discussions of the technical materials. The experts present agreed that this achievement has resulted in the creation of the world’s largest industrial water-coal slurry gasification plant per furnace, enabling long-term stable operation. Under high-load operating conditions, the gasification process exhibits superior performance compared to similar technologies; the gasification unit is safe and reliable, features a high degree of automation, offers flexible operation control, and has significant advantages in terms of scale. This achievement possesses complete independent intellectual property rights; its overall technical specifications are at the international leading level, and it maintains its leading position among international coal water slurry gasification technologies of the multi-nozzle opposed type. Academician Xie Kechang, chairman of the evaluation committee and former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, spoke on behalf of the committee to give high praise to this achievement. He noted that this technology applies theory to practice, features advanced process parameters, operates well, provides comprehensive evaluation data, and holds great significance as a catalyst for China’s modern coal chemical industry to make its way onto the world stage ; It is necessary to take advantage of the Belt and Road Initiative to further expand overseas markets. Chen Shuoyi, Director of the Energy Division at the High-Tech Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, who was a special guest, and Zhang Minglin, Deputy General Manager of Yankuang Group, the entity responsible for submitting the applications, delivered speeches respectively. Hu Qianlin, Deputy Secretary-General of Sinopec and the Chemical Industry Federation of China, the organization in charge of the evaluation, gave a concluding speech.
