How long is the operating cycle of a pressure swing adsorption unit? What are the main factors that influence it? Let’s discuss!
The operating cycle of a pressure swing adsorption unit, that is, its service life, is primarily influenced by the following factors: 1. The designed service life of the adsorber in the pressure swing adsorption unit; 2. Service life of the adsorbent in the pressure swing adsorption unit ; 3. Mechanical life of the program-controlled valves in the pressure swing adsorption unit ; 4. Service life of the vacuum pump in the desorption system of the pressure swing adsorption unit, and service life of the compressor in the recovery system ; Generally, the designed service life of an adsorber is 10 years, while the mechanical lifespan of the adsorbent and programmable valves can now ensure operation for more than 15 years. As for the other power equipment such as vacuum pumps and compressors, their service life depends on the capabilities of the equipment manufacturers; of course, the longer the service life, the better.
The operational life of a pressure swing adsorption unit is generally around 20 years. It is primarily affected by the service life of the adsorbent and adsorption towers, the aging of power equipment such as compressors and vacuum pumps, as well as gas leaks caused by the aging of programmable valves. Currently, the design lifespan of adsorbents and adsorption towers is 20 years. In fact, the operational lifespan of each installation depends largely on our maintenance efforts – for example, ensuring that the feed gas contains no water or oil can extend the service life of the adsorbents; having pure gas helps to prolong the operation time of compressors; and it is important to adjust process parameters in a scientific manner. The carbon monoxide purification system used by our former company has been in operation for 17 years and is still functioning today, thanks primarily to regular thorough maintenance and continuous improvements to the manufacturing process.
The operating cycle of pressure swing adsorption is primarily influenced by the usage of programmable valves and the usage of the adsorbent. Programmable valves are primarily affected by damaged gaskets, internal leakage, and solenoid valve failures, whereas the performance of adsorbents is greatly influenced by the properties of the adsorbents themselves and the composition of the feed gas.
