Failure: Cavitation often occurs, causing damage to the pump. Methods of diagnosis: Fluctuations in current, fluctuations in outlet pressure, and fluctuations in flow rate occur during cavitation. Fault of centrifugal pump: Damaged balance disk. Method of diagnosis: An increase in pressure is indicated by the pressure gauge located behind the balance disk or in the balance tube; the temperature of the mechanical seal becomes too high, and the leaking fluid inside the pump flows back into the cooling water for the mechanical seal, causing the cooling water lines to become very hot and leading to overheating of the mechanical seal. Reason: Damaged balance disc, pressure buildup at the pump outlet, or excessive pressure control.
Centrifuge (manufactured by Alfa Laval): Fault – Over-speed interlock occurs frequently. Diagnosis method: Checking the speed sensor and other components shows that they are all functioning normally. Cause: Due to maintenance work on the power grid, the frequency of the power supply fluctuates significantly, ranging from 49.8 to 50.6, which leads to fluctuations in the motor’s speed. The protection systems of this imported equipment are quite effective. After the power grid maintenance was completed and it was connected back to the original grid, everything worked normally.
