Insulated pipes are generally not painted, as they already have an outer protective layer, usually made of galvanized iron sheet or aluminum alloy panels; it is not possible to apply surface treatments such as sandblasting or shot blasting to them, so no painting is done. There are also requirements specified in the standards; see clause 4.5 of SH/T3043. For certain pipes or projects with special needs, color coding may be applied. Go to the petrochemical plant and take a look; most of the insulated pipes are painted, but there are no color codes or color rings.
