Dear teachers, for the following operating conditions, what type of shut-off valves are required, and what materials should be used for the valve components? It is for ammonia-based methanol production. The medium composition is as follows: CO2 – 4.02%, CO – 13.07%, H2 – 50.77%, CH4 – 1.41%, H2O – 23.7%, N2 – 6.94%. Valve specifications: 1” butt-welded shut-off valve; design pressure: 300LB; design temperature: 935°C; operating temperature: 900°C; pipe size: 33.4X6.35mm; manual operation; intended for outdoor use in temperatures ranging from -10°C to 38°C. You already said it’s a manual cut-off valve; if I don’t understand that, how am I supposed to make a choice?
Should a valve be a gate valve or a globe valve? How should the valve body material be chosen for such operating conditions? What material is good for high-temperature valve seats?
0Cr25Ni20 (310S) is a type of heat-resistant stainless steel that is widely used. It possesses excellent oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, and in particular it has good high-temperature performance; its maximum operating temperature can reach 1200°C, with a continuous operation temperature of up to 1150°C.
