As the title suggests, are these two design standards the same?
The two are not entirely equivalent. Relatively speaking, the API 600 standards are more stringent.
BS 1414 – Cast steel gate valves are typically used for large-sized valves; API 600 covers valves with a maximum size of 600mm
Take a look at API 600 version 2015 – it’s now 42 inches in size
