Hello everyone, I noticed that many of the flanges in our equipment are made of P22 alloy steel, but the gaskets used are made of 10 carbon steel? I wonder if there is any relationship between the flange material and the gasket material? Are the strength requirements for pipes and gaskets not the same?
These gaskets are generally selected in accordance with the flange standards set by the Ministry of Chemical Industry; of course, the choice also depends on the conditions of use. There are 10 in the standard versions, as well as some made of stainless steel. Generally, it is required that the flange be harder than the gasket.
If the flange strength is lower than that of the gasket, which one will wear out first? Which one is easy to replace?
