I would like to ask whether the intake valve of the heating furnace is designed to open with air flow or to close with air flow? How to understand it?
The selection between wind on and wind off is based on safety considerations! Do you think it is safer to have the intake valve fully open or fully closed when there is no wind? Full open when the wind is stopped, and vice versa for the wind shut-off valve!

I said it – the names for ‘wind on’ and ‘wind off’ are based on the state after the wind has stopped! In other words, when there is no air supply, it is safest for the intake air control valve of the heating furnace to be fully open; therefore, it is a valve that stays open. Once the air supply is stopped, there is no power to operate it, so its valve remains in the fully open position! The same goes for the other way around!
