The project requires DN40 stainless steel pipes of three different pressure grades. This is a common practice in engineering, especially these days when stainless steel pipes are in short supply and it’s difficult to obtain them in lengths of just a few dozen meters; however, this approach results in higher costs, and only thick-walled pipes can be used instead of thin-walled ones. It should be noted that the fittings connected to these pipes (such as elbows, reducers, flanges, etc.) need to be modified accordingly.
Yeah, it can be used based on the thickness; in actual installation, it’s easy to get confused, and procurement and inspection are also troublesome. Besides, the quantity you have isn’t large. All are more or less 5MM apart

In principle, using a thicker layer instead of a thinner one poses no major problems, unless there are special requirements (such as heat exchange or jackets). Experience shows that using 3.5 instead of 3 or 4 isn’t a big issue, but for a thickness of 5, it’s something to consider. It mainly depends on the occasion of use; a leader who makes decisions in this way clearly has experience, and you can choose to trust him.
What kind of factory is yours? If that’s the case, your factory poses a significant safety risk. Or can you guarantee that the wall thickness of all the pipes purchased will be within the positive tolerance range?
It is recommended to purchase all of them at the highest pressure rating.
