Looking for a valve or material that offers good wear resistance, as well as resistance to acids and alkalis, or at least resistance to either acids or alkalis. The valves are intended to be used in pipelines carrying boiler fly ash solutions and in pipelines of the desulfurization system; The slurry contains 200-mesh ash at a concentration of about 20-50%; it is alkaline in nature, but can become acidic after desulfurization ; The fluorinated butterfly valves currently in use are resistant to corrosion, but their wear resistance is poor. Our desulfurization pumps are lined with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, making them resistant to corrosion and wear; valves made of a similar material can be found.
What is the market price of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene linings compared to those with PTFE linings on an annual basis? Is it too high or too low?

Ceramic valves can be used directly.
There are now butterfly valves that are completely lined with PTFE; all parts in contact with the medium are coated with PTFE, so corrosion protection is definitely assured. I have only supplied these valves for use in flue gas pipelines for desulfurization and denitrification purposes, and after 2 years, there have been no problems. There is dust present in the flue gas as well, but it’s not clear whether these valves will work well with liquid media, as frequent opening and closing can indeed lead to wear
Many of these are ceramic valves, I think; it seems that ceramic valves are widely used, and there are also rubber-lined butterfly valves

Desulfurization can be achieved using rubber-lined butterfly valves; an EPDM valve seat can be paired with a duplex steel valve disc. Fluoroplastics have too poor plasticity and are not suitable for desulfurization applications.
