Today I calculated the pressure drop due to nitrogen resistance: 500 cubic liters, 6 kilograms of gas, transported through a DN50 pipe at a flow rate of around 11. After traveling 1100 meters, 3 kilograms of pressure was lost. I’m wondering if there’s an error in my calculations! I checked the parameters several times and found no issues. The chemical engineering design manual recommends a flow rate of 10-25, so my value isn’t that high either!
I also calculated it to be 3 kilograms~ It’s your pipeline that’s too long~ 1.1 kilometers long~
What is your absolute coefficient of friction?
For ordinary steel pipes with a Ra value of 0.2 mm, the pressure loss is approximately 300 Pa/m; for stainless steel pipes with a Ra value of 0.05 mm, the pressure loss is approximately 200 Pa/m
6 kgf gauge pressure, absolute roughness of 0.2 mm, pressure drop of 485 KPa
The reason has been found; it’s mainly because the pipe diameter is too small. For a 500 series pipe with a diameter of 50, and a 2000 series pipe with a diameter of 100, although the flow rate is the same, the resistance loss is much lower in the pipe with the larger diameter
