Minimum height requirement for pipeline valves above the ground

This post was last edited by ycyycy1000 on 2018-6-24 at 20:35. “Chemical Pipeline Design Manual – 2 Pipeline Installation Design” 2.2.2.7 Requirements for Valve Location 　　 (1) The installation height of the valve stem’s centerline on vertical pipes should be within the range of 0.7 to 1.6 meters above the ground or platform; valves with a diameter of DN40 or less can be installed at heights below 2 meters. When the position is too high or too low, a platform or control device such as a sprocket or an extension rod should be provided to facilitate operation. 　　　 (2) For a very small number of valves that are not operated frequently, and whose operating height is no more than 2.5 m above the ground, and for which it is inconvenient to install a permanent platform, a portable ladder or mobile platform should be used to enable operation. 　　　 (3) The center distance between the valve handwheels located around the operating platform and the edge of the platform should not exceed 400 mm. When the valve stem and handwheel extend above the platform and their height is less than 2 m, they must not interfere with the operator’s ability to perform tasks or with their safety when moving around. 　　　 (4) When valves are arranged adjacent to each other, the clear distance between their handwheels should not be less than 100 mm. 　　　 (5) The valve stem of the valve should not be installed vertically downward or at an angle. 　　　 (6) For valves that are installed in ducts or valve chambers and are used frequently, if the handwheel is located 300 mm below the cover plate, an extension rod should be installed to bring it within 100 mm below the cover plate.
