Happy May Day 2024! Safety first. Let’s give praise and support to the achievements in China’s chemical engineering technology and equipment. **********************【Ten Years of Development in Chemical Engineering Equipment】A continuously updated summary post is available; feel free to join the discussions at https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-3576046-1-1.html (Source: Haichuan Chemical Engineering Forum) ***************** On May 8, 2024, China’s first pilot-type safety valve for nuclear power plants successfully completed all its testing procedures in Chengdu, marking China’s full mastery of the key technologies related to such nuclear valves and its ability to supply them independently to nuclear power plants. This also means that our country has become one of the few in the world to possess this technology, which is of great significance for enhancing the autonomy of our nuclear power projects and accelerating the expansion of nuclear power overseas. This achievement was developed jointly by the China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute of CNNC and CNNC Suvalve Technology Industry Co., Ltd. The pilot-operated safety valve of a nuclear power plant’s pressure regulator is used in the reactor primary system, and it plays a crucial role in the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. It is one of the valves with the highest safety requirements in such plants, and it is considered by the nuclear valve industry to be the equipment for which domestic production poses the greatest challenges. Previously, the pilot-operated safety valves for pressure regulators in nuclear power plants that are in operation or under construction in China relied largely on imports, which greatly restricted the high-quality development of nuclear power in the country. It is reported that the China Nuclear Power Research and Design Institute has achieved breakthrough progress in the development of pilot safety valves, moving from single-function to multi-function designs, as well as from low discharge volumes to high discharge volumes. Next, they will work together with relevant parties to accelerate the supply of the first domestically produced set of pilot safety valves for use in civil nuclear safety machinery and equipment.
The development of equipment is crucial for improving safety levels.
