I don’t know which colleague said that **current policies and regulations require that waste pipes be installed above ground. I reviewed the codes for chemical process pipelines, water supply and drainage design, as well as wastewater treatment design, but found no explicit regulations in any of them. The buried construction method is specified in the GB 50268-2008 Code for Construction of Water Supply and Drainage Pipelines. GB50014-2006 only requires open drainage channels. Which hero can shed some light on this?
In principle, it is to prevent soil contamination caused by issues such as ruptured sewage pipes or leaks. It’s just that no valid basis can be found as to which regulation or design standard it is.
