What material should be used for ammonia pipelines?
It’s better to choose 304, as it has a certain level of corrosion resistance
304 tubing will suffice.
Carbon steel pipes are fine; in chemical plants, ammonia is generally recycled. If old ammonia contains chloride ions, stainless steel pipes will develop holes within just a few days when exposed to those ions.
The material is carbon steel; what is generally referred to as carbon steel is 20 steel.
According to the design specifications for cold storage facilities, 20-grade steel is used for ammonia and liquid ammonia; as for ammonia water, it depends on its moisture content
If considered purely in terms of corrosivity, ammonia has very little corrosive effect on carbon steel; there is no problem at all in using carbon steel. However, if there are other considerations, such as the desire for particularly pure ammonia or high cost-effectiveness, stainless steel can also be used. :lol:lol
