By how much does the sealing performance of a DN50 blind cover with two layers of PTFE flat gaskets having an outer diameter of 100 mm decrease compared to that when only one layer of PTFE flat gasket is used?
Considering the pressure level, there are definitely valves in place at the front end to prevent flow. As for the dead end, whether the medium is corrosive or of another nature, the sealing performance of the two gaskets will decrease; in effect, having an additional sealing point means there is an extra potential leak point. At extreme temperatures, both high temperatures and low temperatures have an impact due to thermal expansion and contraction.
Why add two layers? The more sealing surfaces there are, the greater the likelihood of leakage
The two-layer gasket consists of one layer that serves as the DN50 pipe lining, and another layer that forms the sensor housing. The design pressure is 5 kilograms; I’m not sure if it can be achieved
The medium is 35% hydrochloric acid, at 60 degrees Celsius, in gravity flow.
More gaskets do not necessarily mean better performance; whether a good seal can be achieved depends on whether the sealing specific pressure is sufficient
How thick is the gasket? PTFE has a cold-flow property, so using one that is less than 1 mm thick should not be a problem. The thinner, the better
The pipe lining is 6 mm thick, and the outer diameter of the flange lining is 100. The PTFE gasket I added is 15 thick, with an outer diameter of 100; a blind cover 20 thick is added on the outermost layer.
Pressure also matters. It’s fine, tighten it evenly; don’t forget about airtightness
I wonder what pressure this structure can withstand? Without a lining, a 20-mm-thick blind cover with only a 3-mm-thick PTFE gasket can withstand a pressure of around 1 MPa at most.
