Are there any standards for identifying pipeline grade codes, like B1A1?; What do things like 3B9S1R mean? I looked it up online and found that for codes like L1E, L stands for pressure, E stands for material, and 1 stands for serial number. How can B1A1/3B9S1R be interpreted?
The following is my personal understanding for reference only! The “B1A1” and “3B9S1R” mentioned above do not quite conform to the guidelines for assigning grade codes to pipeline materials specified in the \"HG/T 20646.2-1999 Engineering Specifications for the Design of Pipeline Materials in Chemical Plants\". “\"B1A1\" should be the pressure pipeline licensing class. ““3B9S1R” should be SSEC pipeline grade code within Sinopec
It is recommended to consult the pipeline data manual provided by the design agency.
They are all created by the respective organizations; some are the same while others are different

I don’t have much experience with it – generally, the chemical industry standards or the requirements specified in the process packages are what are used.
