Our facility has an acid gas air cooler of the fixed tube sheet type. It has been in use for just two months. There are two fans beneath this acid gas air cooler: one is located at the fixed end and the other at the floating end. During the day, the fans were switched over, with the fan at the floating end coming online. That night, with an outdoor temperature of 2°C, leakage of the fluid occurred in the heat exchange tubes at the fixed end. Upon inspection the next day, no leakage was detected; it was suspected that fan vibration was the cause, so the fan at the fixed end was used instead, and no leakage was found on that side either. Further inspection only revealed obvious signs of leakage on two heat exchange tubes at the floating end. So far, after several days of observation, there has been no leakage. Since it is not possible to identify the specific leak points on site, it is necessary to stop and conduct pressure testing again in order to detect the leaks. I would like to ask the experts here: what could be the cause of this leakage?
