The tensile strength of austenitic stainless steel fasteners of commercial grade A2-70 is 700 MPa, whereas that of fasteners made from the specialized grade material 0Cr18Ni9 is 515 MPa; in other words, the tensile strength of the specialized grade is actually lower than that of the commercial grade. So what’s the need to choose the specialized grade? (Rationally speaking, a dedicated version should have more reliable performance.)
Don’t focus only on mechanical properties; A2-70 belongs to medium-strength fasteners, while 0Cr18Ni9 is a low-strength fastener. However, 0Cr18Ni9 has better high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
Material requirements and manufacturing standards vary; strength is just one of the indicators! Reference standard!
