On December 22, Fujian’s first spiral steel pipe with a length of 9 meters, a diameter of 3,400 millimeters, and a wall thickness of 29 millimeters was produced in the manufacturing facility of Bohai Petroleum Equipment Fujian Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. located in the Kemen Park of Lianjiang Economic Development Zone. This marks the official start of mass production of ultra-large-diameter, ultra-thick-walled spiral steel pipes in Fujian Province, filling a gap in the supply of such products in the region. It is understood that the products manufactured this time use the spiral seam submerged arc welding process, and their length can be customized flexibly between 8 and 10 meters. Compared with the conventional three-roll straight seam welding process, its production efficiency is more than 4 times higher. Such steel pipes can be widely used in major engineering fields such as municipal water supply and drainage systems, bridge foundation piles, wind turbine towers, and cofferdams for artificial islands.
