Dear teachers, has lightning protection and grounding been installed for the pipe racks and overhead pipelines? I’m not very familiar with this aspect. The \"Code for Lightning Protection Design of Petrochemical Plants\" GB50650-2011 sets out the following requirements. How do you guys handle this in practice?

Regarding methods for lightning protection of pipelines, no reference manuals could be found; however, a manual on static electricity protection from over 30 years ago was discovered. It is still in use today. According to the diagrams in that manual, connectors need to be welded onto both the pipelines and the pipe supports. Yet, I have never seen such a practice in actual construction sites

Thank you for your reply. The pipe bridging has been implemented successfully, but how should the pipes be connected to the pipe supports, and how should they be grounded? Is it necessary to weld connection plates to the pipes and pipe supports?
It’s very convenient to weld on pipe racks; if it’s not easy to weld the pipes, use clamps or bands. Take a close look at the diagrams I mentioned.

Just find the grounding point for the pipes; there are no special requirements regarding pipe racks. The structure of metal pipe racks can generally be used as a grounding element, or it’s also possible to use separate grounding strips. Isn’t your focus on how to connect the pipes?
